Matoušek, V., Mautner, P. Text, Speech and Dialogue, 6th International Conference, TSD 2003 . České Budějovice, hotel Gomel, 08-SEP-03 - 12-SEP-03.
Abstract PDF BibTeX

TSD 2003 was concerned with topics in the field of natural language processing, in particular:corpora, texts and transcription; speech analysis, recognition and synthesis; their intertwining within NL dialog systems

The new text and graphical input device: compact biometrical data acquisition pen

ROHLÍK, O., MAUTNER, P., MATOUŠEK, V., KEMPF, J. The new text and graphical input device: compact biometrical data acquisition pen . In Human-Computer Interaction. Amsterdam: IOS Press, 2003. s. 872-875. ISBN: 1 58603 363 8
Abstract PDF BibTeX

The paper presents our experience with the text recognition methods that we have developed for a new designed electronic pen that produces signals corresponding to the movement of the pen on paper. Signals are described by a set of promitives and hidden Markov models are used for word recognition.

Voice range profile and problem of fundamental frequency

VÁVRA, F., NOVÝ, P., MAŠKOVÁ, H. Voice range profile and problem of fundamental frequency. In Summer school DATASTAT 03. Brno: Masaryk Univerzity, 2004. s. 387-398. ISBN: 80-210-3564-1
Abstract PDF BibTeX

This paper deals with some problem of detection of fundamental frequency. An essential approach is to employ methodologies in time domain. The autocorrelation signal function of a modified signal is a basic operational apparatus. Both theoretical analysis and experimental modeling of audio signal are proposed in this contribution. Real signal records were used.

Voice range profile examination method and its applications

NOVÝ, P., VÁVRA, F., VOJTÍŠKOVÁ, M. Voice range profile examination method and its applications . In Summer school DATASTAT 03. Brno: Masaryk Univerzity, 2004. s. 257-271. ISBN: 80-210-3564-1
Abstract PDF BibTeX

The aim of the application of the voice profile examination method in lanryngeal disease diagnostics is to observe the development of the voice apparatus function after the surgery was performed. Since we deal with the examination of voice heavily affected by the hoarseness, we need to propose a robust algorithm for evaluating a fundamental frequency and sound pressure level in a real time.

HMM based handwritten text recognition using biometrical data acquisition pen

ROHLÍK, O., MAUTNER, P., MATOUŠEK, V., KEMPF, J. HMM based handwritten text recognition using biometrical data acquisition pen . In CIRA2003. Kobe: University of Tsukuba, 2003. s. 950-953. ISBN: 0-7803-7867-9
Abstract PDF BibTeX

Development of new text and graphical input devices is considered to be important part of human-computer interaction by many researchers worldwide. The paper presents our experience with the text recognition methods that we have developed for a new designed electronic pen that produces signals corresponding to the movement of the pen on paper. Signals are described by a set of primitives and hidden Markov models are used for word recognition. Results of tests are discussed as well as other possible application areas of our electronic pen.
